Certified Recovery Mentor Requirements
The Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) requires an OHA approved addiction peer training program (peer delivered services).
- $100 Fee is waived from July 1st, 2021 - July 1st, 2026
- The MHACBO CRM is NOT the PSS (Peer Support Specialist). The PSS is managed by the Oregon Health Authority, for more information, please click here to visit their website.
Education and/or Credentialing Requirements:
- You must submit proof of an OHA approved addiction training program - See list of approved trainings below
- Approved Oral Health Training (use browsers other than Chrome) - Free Course Available Here
- Oral Health Training is also available in Spanish - Salud Bucal | Juntos (juntosnw.com)
- Must be in recovery from substance use dependence and have a minimum of 2 years recovery. Please click here for recovery letter guidelines
- Certificate of Completion for MHACBO CRM Ethics Quiz
- Code of Conduct (signed and dated)
- Background check with exclusionary criteria of ORS 443.004/0AR 407-007-0277 Crimes (conviction, attempt, conspiracy, or solicitation for any of the crimes) regardless of how long ago the conviction occurred:
- ORS 163.095, Aggravated murder
- ORS 163.107, Murder
- ORS 163.115 Murder II
- ORS 163.375, Rape I
- ORS 163.405, Sodomy I
- ORS 163.411, Unlawful sexual penetration I
- ORS 163.427, Sexual abuse I
- 40-hour Peer Mentor Certificates will not be accepted by OHA, if it is dated more than 3 years from today's date
CRM Recertification
Recertification occurs every two years. Certified CRMs must submit 20 hours of continuing education every two years, which must include 6 hours of Ethics Training and update their certification file with any changes (address, phone, email, etc.).
MHACBO CRMs can enroll as Oregon Medicaid Providers and bill under Licensed/certified substance use disorder programs enrolled with Oregon Medicaid:
